Award Winners for the Ghent Viewpoint Documentary Film Festival 2024 announced!
The 2024 edition of the Ghent Viewpoint Documentary Film Festival came to an end after a week of screening documentary film gems coming from Belgium and all around the world. As is tradition, the festival took place at Ghent's beloved independent cinema Studio Skoop, where guests could also enjoy a free drink at the cosy Skoop Café.
"What struck me most was the profound emotional impact these documentaries had on the audience. Unlike narrative films, which often aim for instant gratification or cheap thrills, documentaries have this remarkable ability to delve into the depths of human experiences and societal issues. They challenge us to confront uncomfortable realities and broaden our perspectives." says Festival Director Kris De Meester. "'Gestolen Leven' stood out at the festival, focusing on adoption fraud in a Q&A session with filmmaker Daniel Lambo and subject Rani T'Kindt. The film delved into the complexities of deceit and exploitation within adoption processes. Its impact extended beyond traditional storytelling, sparking meaningful dialogue and raising awareness.”
