THE TEARS OF BEA SMIT (NETHERLANDS) BY ORLY NURANY
Synopsis: After her lover breaks up with her, Bea must fight to keep her Amsterdam pub from the claws of her landlord. The pub’s regulars, gamblers and a 9 year old girl all, seem to share with her the painful sounds of the words mother and father. Meanwhile Bea’s hands keep on working day in, day out. Running time: 01:13:00.
About the director: Orly Nurany, Iranian/Israeli, moved to the Netherlands at the age of 18. After her bachelor degree studies at the Rietveld art academy she started editing Film & TV, along side collaborations with fellow filmmakers. ‘The Tears of Bea Smit’ is her debut feature and took part in Visions du Reel Film Market 2021.
